[ Adolphe felt the same when Claude was here, which was why he saw his arrival from a distance... it's fine... he gets it. ]

[ Pursing his lips a moment. ]

Even if it's not the end, dying isn't a pleasant experience. I hate that any of them went through it.

[ Hm? Adolphe notes Claude's reaction. What's that mean... ]

[ His standard is on the floor. ]

I thought your reaction would have been stronger, since Yves considered you to be a close friend.

He gives Adolphe a puzzled look. ]

[ He doesn't look like he wants that. ]

[ Claude also doesn't want that, but he also looks like he isn't sure what Adolphe wants. ]

I'm frustrated. [ But his tone is measured. ] I'm not sure what exactly you expected me to say.

... I wasn't sure what I expected either.

[ He'll admit that. ]

Will you at least see them when they arrive? They'll be coming in the same place you did.

[ Adolphe has a handful of letters in his hands because he was on his way from getting them out of the mailbox. ]

[ Does Adolphe think he's heartless... ]

It normally takes a day for them to arrive, right?

[chrysanths]

[ No... even after he killed without an affliction. Heartless would take a different set of actions. ]

Usually Saturday or Sunday. The pattern has been victims coming in on Saturday and whoever dies in execution comes on Sunday. There was a slight delay in the first batch though.

He looks at the letters in his own hands for a bit. ]

It feels surreal to receive letters from people who'll be here soon.

[ Glancing briefly at the letters. ]

Are you looking forward to seeing them again?

... I guess so. Just wish it didn't take death to do that.

[ He sighs and puts them away. ]

Probably horrendous too, given the trend of the bodies.

Though I feel like each one of them will brush it off.
