The people of my island live under the protection of the Dragon God, which I devote myself to.

That is certainly part of it. Ours is a god of conflict, believed to have flown into a rage. I was to go there to calm its anger.

Why do you worship something with such a volatile temper?

Because it also serves as a protector against threats to our island, of which there are many.

An interesting question. It has always done so, since the beginning of our history. We believe the first priestess may have formed a pact, which our rituals then show our devotion to upholding...

But I'm afraid that not even I know for sure.

Are there many like it? Dragon protectors?

[trifocal]

No... I do not believe there are. There are very few dragons left in the world, from my understanding. We are possibly the only ones to have structured our society around one.

Oh yeah? Where'd they all go?

[trifocal]

From what records we have, it seems they took part in the War of Ruin, many centuries ago. Perhaps they fell in battle, or became dormant after the war ended and the world moved on.
