I guess... it's just kind of hopeless? There's no culture among nobility that puts personal feelings above your responsibilities when it comes to marriage, so I don't think most people would bother.

There are exceptions, obviously, but it's not the norm.

Well... Most of them just expect it, so I doubt they'd even really give much thought to not wanting it. It's like saying you don't want to grow up, finding a suitable match is just part of life.

And the decisions they make about a spouse affect their status and authority, so if they want to keep being rich and powerful, they can't actually just do what they want.

It's not really dodging. My parents aren't with me, so there's no one to pressure me.

They were hands off. But I always had a roof over my head, and food on the table, and that's more than I can say for a lot of other people.

In any case, after I solve all of Leicester's problems, I'm going to take some time to myself and go exploring. Maybe I'll consider marriage after I'm done with that.
