I guess... it's just kind of hopeless? There's no culture among nobility that puts personal feelings above your responsibilities when it comes to marriage, so I don't think most people would bother.
There are exceptions, obviously, but it's not the norm.
[ what's with all the dots is he thinking about jiaoqiu ]
Well... Most of them just expect it, so I doubt they'd even really give much thought to not wanting it. It's like saying you don't want to grow up, finding a suitable match is just part of life.
And the decisions they make about a spouse affect their status and authority, so if they want to keep being rich and powerful, they can't actually just do what they want.
In any case, after I solve all of Leicester's problems, I'm going to take some time to myself and go exploring. Maybe I'll consider marriage after I'm done with that.

I doubt it. Nobles don't really care about romance.
no subject
Do they not care, or do they just say they don't 'cause no one's gonna listen otherwise?

Honestly, that sounds kinda stupid. Like-- nobles are all like, powerful and rich mosta the time but they can't say 'nah, not gonna do that'?

And... what, they want to make sure they're marryin' equally rich and power people to keep being rich an' powerful?

That somethin' you've got to look forward to?

Or if I do, by then no one will care who I marry.

Are they… just not with you with you, or are they…?

No no, they're just in another country.
[ Claude the only lord allowed to have parents. ]

Oh. Blimey, you had me gettin' all depressed for ya there.
no subject
I wouldn't want that! But don't worry, my parents are alive and well. And blissfully unconcerned with my marital status.
no subject
Aw, that's good. Gotta be nice havin' parents [ imagine if i left it like that ] who're just happy to let you do what you gotta do.

They certainly do that. They're big proponents of letting their kids find their own way.
no subject
... That ain't a bad thing, is it? I mean, you might mess up but at least you learned along the way.

[ … ] That’s normally the kinda stuff you only have to do if you don’t have parents.

They were hands off. But I always had a roof over my head, and food on the table, and that's more than I can say for a lot of other people.
no subject
Yeah.
Alternative's nothin'.
