Course, none of them manager it because the King had a failsafe in place for if he died. It triggered on his funeral and set up the tournament to choose the next ruler -- one based on the popularity of the people, not just on bloodlines or who had their foot in the door already.
Weren’t like he knew who he were when he threw his hat in the ring. I get it’s kinda weird, but if you ask me… I reckon the previous king knew somethin’ were gonna happen to him, and put somethin’ in place to make it harder for the bastards most likely to off him to get what they want.
Plus the alternative’s a guy who’s gonna turn everyone into Humans, so.
