Yeah, I don't know many people who like poetry... I guess I've never had much of an inclination toward art, but I can at least appreciate the written word in all its forms.
Whether it's poetry or fiction though, it's nice to get lost in your imagination.

Well, that is one reading. That it's about the fear of death, and what it can drive people to do. I do think your understanding is valid.
But I read it more as being about potential. How life can be transformative, and the journey of going through it never stagnant. People's lives and circumstances can change and grow in an immeasurable number of ways, so don't surrender to the fear of failure or the despair of present unhappiness.
