[ Exhausting. Weary. Claude can feel it down to his bones as the memory comes and fades back, with nothing but the distorted mirrors in their wake.

He looks over at Firefly. ]

I'm sorry. You must've been afraid.

[ She stands right next to a mirror and the current version of her doesn't look as exhausted, so much as she is surprised to see all of this playing out in front of her. ]

It was a difficult time.

[ That's underselling it. ]

Are those days long gone, at least?

The Swarm isn't nearly as prevalent now as it was back then. If you're lucky, you might never run into them.

How long were you like that? A soldier?

How long?

[I wish hsr gave real timelines.]

... You mean while learning to walk and all that?

[fightolive]

What? No, we wouldn't be ready for battle that early.

Oh, okay. [ a ] Do you still have any of the people that you knew during that time...?

No. I haven't seen anyone from the Iron Cavalry in centuries.

... Do you know if any of them survived?

[fightolive]

I really don't know.

I hope that somebody did.

[ Realistically, the chances are so incredibly low. ]

I guess you can't contact them? How'd you get out?

[fightolive]

No.

[It would be an empty channel.]

I was the only survivor of that battle. And... I realized I was fighting for something that was already long gone.

I left that planet, but ended up in a coma.

Long gone? You mean Her Majesty?

[ Frowning. ]

Her Majesty... I can't remember her face. Every time I try, it's blurry.

I don't think so.
