Lucas will hesitate for a second but walk over. He's not wearing the shoes for this but he never is and it never stops his ass.]

[STOP HE WEARS SHOES HE'S JUST NOT WEARING BEACH SHOES he wears fucking heels everywhere and the sand is not kind but it's fine because he has great balance anyway.

They have awkward air to clear but after that TRIAL FROM HELL, he just wants to fuss first, a bit.]

Are you holding up alright?

[ He doesn't need to fuss over Claude. ]

I'm fine. Just decompressing... These are always exhausting.

[He fusses over everyone, there is no exception. Well. There may be one or two exceptions but Claude isn't one of them.]

I am. [A little nod.] Doing much the same, though... The last hour or so is always such a chaotic rush.

Yeah, usually the delusional humour has worn off by then and we're in full emotional crisis by the end.

At least, some of us are.

It's not difficult to end up swept away by emotions in the heat of things.

There are moments where it feels like a close thing. [A beat before he looks back and smiles faintly.] But I'm a teacher, after all. It would be an awful thing if I couldn't maintain myself in a difficult situation.

[Imagine having a teacher that just lost their shit over every single difficult situation, that class would be in ruins.]

... I would think that murder is a little different than a child throwing the tantrum.

A child throwing a tantrum is hardly the most difficult thing that a teacher must face.

[There's a little beat of silence.]

The trouble usually comes from the adults. An angry woman wanting to retrieve the child she took in and all but threw away, simply because she changed her mind on a whim and missed the free labor. An intoxicated father coming to threaten the staff because we won't allow him to see the son that he mistreated. One must know how to handle any manner of emergency calmly, as a teacher.

[HELP! There's just a faint look of amusement, though.]

It's nothing to apologize for. And I'm certain teaching in my home comes with a different set of concerns than teaching elsewhere... But it's given me a good deal of practice.

That does explain why I have seen you approach most situations here with discipline and patience.

I could hardly call myself a teacher if I couldn't manage at least that much.

[But it's said lightly.]

In any case, given the set of circumstances we're dealing with, I do think most everyone manages decently for a majority of the time.

I'd say so. We haven't seen any major break downs.

It does make me a little worried, though... It's a wonderful thing in this specific situation, but it does make one wonder what you all have endured in the past.

Seems like everyone's come here with burdens and hardships on their shoulders.

Are you planning to record everyone's stories like Taair is?

Taair is intending on doing that? It does seem like the exact sort of sweet undertaking he'd manage...

[And a good project for a guy who seems like he desperately needs to keep busy or he will die.]

I had no such plans, but I would never turn down the chance to hear someone's story if they would be so willing to share it, either.
