My mother was a teacher before me and the reason why I became interested, so I think that's a very lovely compliment.

She did, yes. It's rather common in my home.

Ah - yes... [A slow nod. HERE HE GOES AGAIN.] It's a curse that ends the lives of our people by the age of twenty-three.

Is that what happened to her?

[There's just a thin little smile in response.]

I was able to have more time with her than some people are granted, at least.

Well... I am sorry to hear it regardless, but glad for that. I suppose in real heaven we can at least be reunited with our loved ones.

I should hope so. [The thinness to his smile leaves, but the smile itself remains. Heaven is good!] I've always known it to be a much better and more wondrous place than what we've found here so far, even before things started going awry.
